: I was curious about a little paper cut type slit next to my anus.
I am a mother of 2 and I did not notice this until after my first baby. its
not always there, it comes and goes and not all that often really. i was
wondering if this could be another symptom for internal
hemmroids? I don't think that its herpes. please share your opinion with me,
I know you cannot diagnose me. thank you

: Dear Kiernan, The condition you describe is known as an anal fissure and it can be
caused by either extreme constipation or diarrhea. Straining during
constipation can tear the lining around the anus and constant wiping
during diarrhea can also do the same. The reason it comes and goes is
that you may be passing a hard stool sometimes which can cause the
tear. If you suffer from constipation, then you should increase the
intake of fibre and water. Try cleaning the area gently with baby
moist wipes after every motion. If the pain is very severe or if you
find bleeding or any other cause of concern then you must consult your
doctor. You can also ask your doctor for a local ointment for relief
from pain and buring and also to prevent an infection. |
