: Hello Karen. You can recognise if the hemorrhoids are abscessed if you notice any pus, swelling or bleeding near the ansus. Common Symptoms of an anorectal abscess include:
-
Pain or swelling in or around the anus.
-
Drainage of pus from the anus or near the anus.
-
Fever.
-
Pain or bleeding with the passage of stool.
If there is too much pain in your hemorrhoids, or if there is pus or blood in your stool or in the anal region, then you must visit your doctor at the earliest.
