From: Lisa

Q : I have had hemorrhoids for 16 years on and off in severity since my daughter was born. I am 34 and have light bleeding every now and then but last night I had much more blood from my rectum than I have ever seen before. I would say about 1 teaspoon with some being clotty looking. How concerned should I be and do you have any advice?

Answer :  Hello Lisa. Bleeding from hemorrhoids must always be taken very seriously. It could lead to other serious complications. Also there may be other causes of bleeding from the rectum, which may not always be linked to hemorrhoids. Our suggestion is that you immediately get in touch with your health care provider or see a good proctologist or gastroenterlogist at your local hospital at the earliest. All the best for your diagnosis.
