Anal Itching and Burning

Hemorhoids are sometimes accompanied by itching around the anal area. The itch can be located inside your anus or on the skin surface surrounding the anus. The itching can cause a very strong and uncomfortable urge to scratch.

Anal itching usually has more than one possible cause. The list of possible causes apart from hemorrhoids are:  dry skin, sweating esp excessive sweating around the anus, excessive abrasion due to frequent washing or rubbing toilet paper, frequent diarrhea, chemical allergies from soaps, colognes etc, food allergies, some medications can cause this as a side effect, skin disorders like eczema and psoriasis, yeast infections (in women usually), rectal tumours, stress and many more

Itching around the anus is usually caused by one of the above factors and is not directly attributed to lack of cleanliness.
