Q : My daughter is one years old and she has hemmorrhoids, have you ever heard of this before?

Answer : Hello Casie. Hemorrhoids in children are sometimes seen, although they are not very common. However hemorrhoids in children are usually benign. Most doctors suggest that you leave the hemorrhoids alone, but make sure that your daughter has enough fibre in her diet to make her stools soft. You should also make sure that your daughter is not constipated, give her plenty of water. The only thing to worry about is whether the hemorrhoids is being caused by portal hypertension, that is increased back pressure in the portal vein that carries blood from the digestive tract to the liver. You should consult a doctor to rule out any diseases of the liver.
