Thrombosed Hemorrhoids
Thrombosis hemorrhoids occur when hemorrhoids lead to a blood clot which may
cause severe pain.
Cause of thrombosis hemorrhoids
Thrombosis hemorrhoids are caused due to the thrombus (clot) that forms in the
veins of the rectum or anus, just beneath the ski in the outer region of the
anus. This is because blood pools in distended vein to form a clot.
Signs and symptoms
Thrombosis hemorrhoids may look purple or blue because the vein is strangulated
and the outer skin is likely to turn red, if there is an inflammation. It is
accompanied by severe pain, swelling and itching.
Treatment of thrombosis hemorrhoids
Thrombosis hemorrhoids can be treated with warm baths, application of hemorrhoid
creams and inclusion of fiber rich food in your diet. If the thrombosis is
serious, then surgery (hemorrhoidectomy) is the solution. It is done by draining
the clot or by removing it altogether.
